The Adventures of Rogue and Blaze
Rogue and Blaze captured my heart as soon as I saw them. These active black and white German Shorthaired Pointer/Australian Shepherd mix pups have distinct personalities, but love to be together. Rogue seemed to be the adventurous one in the beginning but now we know she’s scared of anything new. Blaze is a steady boy that doesn’t spook easily. Right now they both love to chew on their toys, sleep on our laps, and run for hours in the yard.
Our latest adventure with the two of them involved loading them for a trip to the vet’s office. Rogue slipped her collar to escape to the far side of the yard. Blaze bolted after her with his leash trailing along behind him. At first, they were running for their lives, but soon they were jumping on my husband to play. After they knocked him to the ground, they proceeded to wrestle each other while on top of him. It took several minutes to catch and then get them into the truck. Rogue cowered on the floorboard while Blaze threw up twice before we reached town. Not everyone understands why I wanted them but my life is only complete when I have a dog. Now I have two! Is that more completeness? I’m not sure. I know it’s more exciting.
Check back here from time to time for updates on their adventures!
Their Side of the Story
Rogue’s Side of the Story
Hi, my name is Rogue. I’m named after an adventurous character in a movie, but I’m not brave like my brother. Mom told you the story of us going to the vet but she always leaves out how scary it can be to load into the truck and ride to town. There are a lot of noises and smells that I don’t recognize. This makes me feel queasy, so I lay on the floorboard of the truck. I don’t fit under the seat, I tried though. We finally arrived at the vet’s office and the people there are really friendly. However, Blaze and I had to spend the night this visit. I went to sleep and when I woke up, I had a pink outfit on. Mom calls it my surgery suit. Now that we’re back home, I can relax and play again with Blaze. I hope we can play in our pen outside soon because my legs feel like they’re going to explode. I want to run!
Blaze’s Side of the Story
What’s up? Blaze is my name and I’m Rogue’s brother. Mom told us we could tell our side of the event that took place the day we went to the vet’s office. I want to say right away that it’s not my fault when Rogue acts up. When she bolted for the other side of the yard, I had to run after her to keep her safe. If Dad fell down, that’s not my fault either. I’m ready to play and he should’ve been ready for that! But when mom came around the house, I knew we were in trouble. On the way into town, my stomach got swirly and I only threw up twice. Is it my fault if the curves on the drive make my stomach upset? The vet’s office is a busy place. There are so many things going on all at once. After I went to sleep and woke up, a weird blue outfit made me feel like I was getting a big hug. It was tight all over. Back home, Rogue and I aren’t able to go out to our pen, so we have to stay and play inside for now.
