The world has changed. We can’t deny the profound changes that took place over. We’ve lived through upheaval unknown to most of us until now. Past generations have seen things like this before, but many of us were caught off guard. Who among us thought it would go on for so long or be such a dividing line between folks?
My husband had just retired after working over forty years at a power plant. He’s been a hard worker his whole life, and we looked forward to his retirement. Our plan was to travel the first year to some places we’d never been. It was supposed to be an adventure to new places. However, we ended up, like the rest of the world, sheltering in place. Little did we know, it would last much longer than we were told. Our travel became long drives to watch for eagles nesting near our house. Our fun times became playing Yahtzee for hours. Each day we watched the news, talked to family, and prayed for the world.
While so many things in our lives have changed, one thing remains the same. Jesus stands ready to reach out. He alone can bring peace during such troubling times. Even when things go wrong, he can carry you through. I feel many prayed for those around the world like never before. Maybe that’s the best response to this lingering crisis. Prayer and thankfulness.
Thankfulness has become a way of life for me. Thankful in ALL things. Things we perceive as good and things we perceive as bad it’s all part of life, and we’re instructed by God in 1 Thessalonians to give thanks for everything. It doesn’t make sense to thank God for things that cause hardship or heartache, but what a difference it makes in our hearts and lives when we do it.
The world will never return to the place it was before Covid. It has changed. As we continue forward, let’s keep praying for each other and for the world, giving thanks for the things that shake us up, move us out of our comfort zone, and cause us to look to God.
